win a tattoo from my girl thursday! - CLOSED

It's finally March 1st and I couldn't be more excited!! Although I've been blogging for many years it was until this time two years ago that I really started to take it seriously. So here I am. Two years of regular blogging. I'm so ready to celebrate.

If you're a regular visitor to this blog then you know that I like to mark a good milestone. For months I've been thinking about the right way to commemorate this one and I think I figured it out...

Yup. Yes. I. Am. I'm giving away a tattoo to celebrate my two year blogging milestone!! I wanted to offer up something that I know a lot of you really, really want so I'm bringing on the ink, blood and pain. And just wait, there's one more awesome thing!

Isn't that freaking awesome?! Sandi is most definitely designing my next tattoo and she could possibly be doing the same for you. Of course, we don't want to dictate to you who will create your next piece of body art so this part of the giveaway is optional. I ain't that bossy.

This contest is not your average giveaway post so please, please, please pay close attention to the details. I am going to enforce these rules to the T to avoid any chance of unfairness.

>> This giveaway is open for entries until noon est on Saturday, March 10, 2012.

>> Once the entry date passed I will choose five entries to move on to the semi-finalist stage. These entries will be passed on to five judges without the name of the contestant.

>> The semi-finalist entries and the names of the judges will be announced on this blog on Monday, March 12, 2012. These entries will be published without the authors name in order to ensure anonymity for the judges. If any person that has been selected as a semi-finalist contacts any of the judges regarding the contest they will be disqualified immediately.

>> The winning entry and the winner will be announced on this blog on Wednesday, March 14, 2012.

>> WINNER WILL RECEIVE $250 TOWARDS THE COST OF A TATTOO!

>> WINNER ALSO HAS THE OPTION OF HAVING TATTOO DESIGN WORK DONE BY SANDI DEVENNY FREE OF CHARGE!

To win this contest all you need to do is tell me a story. Many of us have that tattoo we've been dreaming of for a long, long time but never have the time/money/chutzpah to get around to it. I want to hear about that tattoo. Tell me what you'd get permanently inked into your skin if you won this contest.

You don't have to write a novel but a heartfelt, funny or poignant entry goes a long way.

**If you are unable to leave a comment for any reason please feel free to email you entry to thursday@mygirlthursday.com and I will enter it for you.  I use Disqus to host my comment section and unfortunately it only works 99.9% of the time.  I don't want anyone to miss out!

>> Winner must agree to have tattoo work done within 120 days of date of win.

>> Winner must prize money on a new tattoo (not to complete an existing unfinished piece).

>> Winner must utilize the services of a tattoo shop that accepts Visa as a form of payment.

>> Winner must be willing to take part in a blog post on My Girl Thursday about their finished tattoo within 150 days of date of win. This includes taking photos of your finished piece and having them posted on this blog.

That's all folks!  I know it's a super rule oriented giveaway but I'm just trying to make sure someone out there gets a tattoo (and no one just gets a handful of my hard earned dough).  I hope you all are as stoked about this giveaway as I am!  I've been anticipating the start of this month for so long and I'm so excited to read all of your entries.  Let's get someone the tattoo they've been dreaming of!

Thank you to every single one of you who stop by to check in on me, my wee family and my latest crafting/thrifting/baking/blogging adventure.  I appreciate it more than you can ever know.

Hi there,

My story is about my beautiful twin brothers. When they were born, my brothers both had major health complications which resulted in one if them unable to walk or talk or feed himself, and the second with collapsed lungs.

They have grown up with so many things holding them back but have uplifted me in so many ways, and are such an important part of my life.

I thought for ages about a tribute tattoo to them, and decided a long while ago that I would love to get two hot air balloons, to symbolise how they uplift me, and also as a symbol of freedom, as being disabled (they both have different levels of cerebral palsy) can sometimes make a person feel like they don't have the "wings" to fly like others do.

So yeah, I would love to have the opportunity to win this prize as I know who I want to tattoo it and it would mean so much to tribute my beautiful brothers.

I was also born with a disability, but they remind me every day his to lift yourself above the ground and soar!

Thanks, Donna :) deerdonna@hotmail.com

After a seven year long struggle I am finally graduating from university with a Bachelor of fine arts. There are two reasons why I would like to win this giveaway, one: I would like to have a permanent reminder of my accomplishments and two: I would like to tell the story of my struggle in a venue where it can be heard. I suffer from mental illness; more specifically my diagnosis is generalized anxiety disorder and depression. One of the things that helped me the most through my darkest days was hearing that I wasn't alone. Hearing the story of others' struggle and success with mental illness gave me the strength to persevere even when I just wanted to quit. I would like to give back, tell my story and speak out about mental illness and let others know they are not alone.
To commemorate this accomplishment I would like to get an owl tattoo. Owls have always been an important symbol in my life. My late Nana literally had hundreds of owls on everything in her house. All of her clothes and jewellery had owls on it and even her toilet seat had an owl on it. My school's mascot is an owl (us art school students tend to be night owls) and I am also a third generation Brownie leader (another owl mascot)
Thank you for listening to my story
