diy: unicorn embroidery

Heyo!  Today I wanted to share with you a craft project that I posted over at Sunshine and Carousels a while back.  Normally I wouldn't consider myself crazy for unicorns but there's something about Erin's lighthearted and girly nature that makes me want to craft up something extra cute.

Inspired by a vintage sticker from my grandmothers collection I've put together a simple and sweet embroidery pattern for you to use in your personal projects.  I took my stitches a step further by using a tried and true favourite technique called crayon tinting.  And to add the final touches of 80s flair I added a border of this wildly tacky Robert Kaufman fabric.  Perfect throw pillow for my daughters increasingly kitschy bedroom, no?

You can download the pattern by clicking here or on the image below.  If you're new to this craft you can visit Needle 'n Thread and search their vast video library of stitching tutorials.

I had a lot of fun creating this embroidery pattern.  I have a feeling I'll be posting more like this in the future.  It feels good to get back to my crafting roots every once in a while.
