I don't like to speak in absolutes (that's so not true), but if someone were to ask my favourite thing to find at a thrift store I could unequivocally say that it's quilts. Hand stitched quilts to be exact. I maybe get a little weird about them. I might even get my face all close to them and swoon over the hand stitching. I understand machine stitched quilts; I've made many myself, but if I find one in at the Sally Ann it's neither here nor there to me. Those imperfect stitches are where it's at.
So when I checked my Etsy favourites one day and saw that Julie of Restless Hearts was selling these I just about fell out of my chair.
When I bought these Julie told me that they were made by her grandmother who has since passed away. She's keeping a small collection for herself and decided to find the rest of them a loving home. I couldn't be happier that I'm the one!
I had always felt funny about buying pre-made quilt blocks, but the fabrics, colours and the story behind these are just too much to resist. Someday soon I hope to make something very special with these pieces.
