new titles

I've added some new titles to my little crafty library (actually, these were gifts from my very thoughtful partner).

The first books is Embroidered Effects by Jenny Hart.

This time around Jenny works through more than 35 stitches and offers a number of patterns and projects to utilize your new mad skills.

The instructions are clear and I do really like the narration. The project ideas are pretty cute as well - I really like the Childish Inspiration (using a childs drawing as pattern) and the Imitation Cameo Brooch projects. I hope I'll have some time to complete the brooch piece so that I can share it with you all. It's adorable!

I have a sort of wishy-washy relationship with Sublime Stitching. The designs aren't really my style, but every once in a while I find something I like. I do really like the ongoing artist series Jenny offers.

All in all, I'm happy to have Embroidered Effects on my shelf.

The second book I was gifted with is One Yard Wonders by Rebecca Yaker and Patricia Hoskins.

The title sort of gives it all away. This book contains over a 100 projects that require just a yard of fabric, a little time and some loving sewing. I was really excited to pick up this title.

There's a bunch of projects in here I'm itching to get started on. I really like the Hanging Wall Pocket and the Not Ugly Car Trash Bag. Those definitely appeal to my new-found extreme need to organize. I would also like to make up the Two-Drawer File Cabinet Cover for Jesse's office. This book also has the cutest section of clothing for kids.

If you're into sewing I would definitely recommend this book. I still get all giddy when I open it up.
Strange side note about my copy of the book. A number of projects are missing because pages 29 - 40 are in there twice. Strange huh? I'm going to have to run it back to the book store and trade it in. Has anyone else had this problem? I've never come across such a big boo-boo in a book before.

I love checking out new crafty titles - do you have any creative books that you adore? What are they?
